Yes , I am back with my another joomla extension and this time , the baby is a plugin named “banglakeyboard”. I am happy to contribute another extenstion for bangla community about bangla. This plugin will help to write bangla in default joomla contact form. It will add java script based bangla keyboard phonetic, probhat and unijoy (all are from ekushey team ). As it’s the first release , it will do the basic things but soon i will update this with more features. Let me show you a screenshot first how it will look.

Note: This is plugin is compatible with joomla1.5.x only, I didn’t test for joomla1.x and have no inerested. If any body need it for joomla1.x let me know I will try to update

Installation

1. Download the plugin from above
2. Install as usual as u do in joomla1.5
3. Enable the plugin from your plugin manager. As it’s system type plugin so you will get it in system grp in plugin manager.
4. Visit your contact form page …. working na ?

To do

1. Need to add language files
2. Need to add options to select keyboard layouts, may be some ppl will not like to add all keyboard
3. Have plan to add jquery version,
4. Why not make a mootools version following new jquery driver ? Joomla loads mootools bydefault.
5. Clean code
6.Compress js
7. Support other components used for contact like com_qcontact I like this man

Here I am back with tinybn(bangla writing plugin for popular wysiwyw editor tinymce). Oh please don’t think that I am trying to show you smiley face with new version of tinybn but new installation instruction for joomla 1.5.14+. Today a new user informed that the raw installation instruction for joomla 1.5.x is not correct … code is not matching


I don’t have any earlier version of joomla installed now but joomla 1.5.14 and joomla 1.5.15. What I noticed that the code in tinymce.php file in plugins\editors\tinymce.php … that the it’s now udpated. No need to edit code to add custom plugin. Just need to copy paste the custom plugin folder to plugins\editors\tinymce\jscripts\tiny_mce\plugins and add the plugin name to tinymce plugin setting/configuration from admin panel. Let me show u how to install tinybn plugin in joomla 1.5.14+ without any code edit(actually it’s better way now).

note: path are all windows style here.

Step A: Download the plugin file(download link is at end of this post). Unzip it and check there is a folder in that named banlgafkb. Copy that folder and paste in plugins\editors\tinymce\jscripts\tiny_mce\plugins

Step B: Login to your joomla admin panel . Go to plugins. Open the plugin Editor – TinyMCE.
Step C: I think you are now in configuration page of Editor – TinyMCE . Look right side the options.
Change Functionality to Extended

You are close to end . Now click the advance tab(Advanced Parameters). Check there is option to put custom plugin name and button name(though some plugin doesn’t need button name). We need to put custom plugin name here(for more than one.. need to put with comma seperated)
OK, just write plugin name “banglafkb” and button name “banglafkb”. See screenshot bellow

I think these steps are just easy as boiling eggs.

Every thing is ok then when you are writing new article you should see the plugin action like bellow….

If you check joomla1.5.x backend(joomla1.x had same) in any component or module configuration the right col accordian slider is common. In some components u should see tab too.To make such tab and slider is just so easy !

I think you are thinking about my post title, why I used the words “home made”. Because I am going to show you how u can make such a tab/slider module for front end just using joomla own resource. Joomla gives some execillent api to make html grid, tab, slider etc within a moment. JPane is such an api to make tab and slider. Here you will get some code example about how to make tab using JPane.

If you check this line

here first parameter is about making tab, If you want to make slider then use like this

startOffset should be 0 for normal uses. For quick access just check the file \jtest\libraries\joomla\html\pane.php (windows style path here ) for the api.

One problem is, if you want to use this tab/slider in front end u need to copy some css code from backend css file and it’s in administrator\templates\khepri\css\general.css from line 231 to line 288 and here is teh css code bellow that I found there.

I have made a tab/slidder module using Jpane and the above css code. It’s just and I named it “mod_simplejoomlatabslider”. If you are interested to check my module download from bellow and let me know. But pls keep in mind that, it’s just simple tab/slider module

Hello, this is my another work for bangla computing. I just made a small plugin to show english date in bengali in joomla1.5. Please don’t think that it will show bangla date everywhere in joomla. This plugin is just for the component com_content which shows the content/article. I gave name for this plugin is Bangla(bn-bd) date or Joomla Bangla date. This will show article create and modification date in our local language bengali. Here is screenshot for backend.

To make this plugin flexible, I tried to give so many options to configure for your joomla site to show dates in bangla. You can use this plugin as multi lingual mode easily as it has some advanced features like detect language or force to show bangla date. Even you can filter or configure for home page(front page or com_frontpage), full article mode, category filtering etc. Please check my post in post in amaderprojukti forum for details in bengali.

Let me clear first about what is Slick RSS

Slick RSS is a joomla module that Parse and Display RSS Feed News with DHTML Teaser Tooltip. For details pls visit this link.

ok , let me tell what I am going to do next. That module is great to show rss feed from another site and I want to use it as a news ticker and it can be named as rss news ticker. ok then let’s make it done.

I am going to use js library jQuery and it’s plugin BBCNewsTicker. Please download latest version of jquery and that plugin this the given link.

Now, install the module Slick RSS in your joomla site and publish in any module position. Now I am going to make little change in the module code so that it can be configured for newsticker.

open the file default.php from modules\mod_slick_rss\tmpl and check link near 39

here I am adding id to ul tag so that the jquery plugin can catch that and do newsticking

oh btw,$params->get(‘moduleclass_sfx’) that is the class sufix that u add to that module, it urgent to give module suffix here and don’t give same class sufix for another copy of same module in same page. In that the first module be working as newsticker as both more than one module’s ul tag is getting same id.

Next task is to add jquery and it’s plugin and do that newsticking…
I am putting them in index.php of the current active template. make folder named js in your current template folder if there is none and put the jquery file and it’s plugin in that folder . now put the these lines in your index.php template file

Look the above code I used the jquery file name jquery-1.2.6.pack.js and it’s plugin newsticker.js .So if u are using latest version of jquery or it’s news ticker plugin then put the file names carefull in the code…

here #slick-rss-list_rssnews # is jquery syntax to catch slick-rss-list_rssnews as id and _rssnews is the class suffix for the Slick RSS module that I put from admin panel in the module configuration. If you put any thing then the id will be like #slick-rss-list{class suffix here without 2nd bracket} in this format. I think you are clear.

Oh u may ask why I wrote that line jQuery.noConflict(); and jQuery in place of $ sign.. heh to avoid conflict with other js library. You can search jquery seach about this noConflict mode.

Another thing is put the above code in footer of yout index.php file so that the loading time of jquery and it’s plugin doesn’t make any problem for site loading. For first time before the site loaded completely(before the dom is ready) the rss feed will be shown as listed like

so if u make the ul tag height as the the line height of list item from css then it will seems that before the dom ready first news is displayed. When the dom is ready jquery plugin will start to work

I know there is no update on tinybn for many days and it has so many bugs but I am not gone yet ! heh heh. I think who are very familiar with joomla and it’s content editor tinymce, are also familiar with jce(joomla content editor), a joomla conent editor based on tinymce with lots of feature. You can get jce here. Please check their donwload section to download the jce component and jce plugin/mambot(editor).

hmm, please don’t get sleep … I just made a plugin for jce to use my tinybn plugin directly in jce. No manuall install needed , I mean editing files to work with default tinymce.
So , here is the download file of tinybn for jce.

How to install:
1. Install jce component (that will help you to modify or control jce editor and install new plugin and much more)
2. Install jce plugin
3. Now install tinybn plugin for jce. Go to Administrator-> Components-> JCE Administrations-> Install (see screenshot bellow)
4. Now browser the downloaded zip file and install it.

that’s it.
Install finish . Ok now go to article manager and try to open/write any new article. I think you are intelligent enough to make your editor default to jce or even disabled tinymce from plugins. If jce is your current editor and you have install the tinybn for jce according to instruction then you should see like bellow. Select keyboard and type in diff bengali layout.

I think JW Player(flash player) by longtailvideo.com is well known to u all. There are so many extension for joomla, wordpress, drupal and other cms using this tool. Simple_video_flash_player is a joomla module to show flash and other videos. Today I used it with one of project. But after checking in ie6 I was tempered becuase it was showing a js error in ie and the modules config file I meant he xml file has not param to show module class suffix which is very important to style module using css. I searched google and got so many solution. Here is my code that helped to solve this issue in ie6.

If u check the last lines I meant he js code that embed the flash player to that a div having a id like videoplayer1, videoplayer2 etc.

Here the problem was with the width and height problem for ie and I solved just adding two extra var for height and with like bellow

To I have retouched the js code so that the flash object is added after the window is load I mean the dom is ready so that no issue about id unavailability

Joom!Fish is joomla extention  or tool to make multilingual site . Actually  it’s used for  translation in any languge. Joom!Fish has built in support for some component but no plugin for EasyFaq ( Another popular joomla extention-component to make FAQ  in a short time).

Today I developed the easyfaq plugin for Joom!Fish. It’s easy to make plugin for Joom!Fish . I will write a tutorial to make plugin for Joom!Fish to make translation support for any component.
